Jesus is the Centre of True Doctrine

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27).
In Rev. 19:10 we are told the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. What this means is that the message of Jesus is central object of every Bible prophecy. If this is true, and it is, what must be the disposition of those whose responsibility is to help people understand the message of the Bible? Jesus must therefore be the central object of their teachings. Whatever does not lead up to Jesus must be questioned because Jesus is the end point of every bible doctrine. As a teacher of God’s word, I realized that if one is not careful, he will get caught up in so many doctrines that are attractive to the mind but far from the truth. For the teacher of the word of God, exposition of truth must mean making Jesus known by every passage of the bible.
We are told in the passage above of Jesus, that beginning from Moses and all the prophets, He showed the disciples the things that the scriptures spoke about Him. So when we take an Old Testament scripture, it must lead up to Jesus if we have done justice to it. When what we say from the scripture lead up to anything else but Jesus, it shows how far we from the mind of God regarding that scripture. What this means is that the teacher of God’s word must go deep in study to prepare for God’s people what is healthy and true. But for us who they minister to, this truth must also help us judge what is true from what is not.
Whatever is true has its end in Christ. This is true for the Apostle Paul when he said in 1 Corinthians 2:2 to the Corinthians, “For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” When this truth is adopted, it will take the shine off the false teachers that have invaded the church with what they call ‘new revelations’. Jesus is the foundation and truth, and nothing new can be added to what already is.
